J&K: Indian Army organises Women’s Cycle Rally in Baramulla

Baramulla (J&K), Sept 12 (ANI): Indian Army organised an exclusive Women’s Cycle Rally ‘Ride Kashmir’ at Baramulla in North Kashmir on September 11. The second edition of this annual event was organised by Dagger Division in collaboration with Cycle Association of Jammu and Kashmir. This year, a total of 150 women cyclists took part in the cycling rally, which included a total of 46 women from various places of Kashmir such as Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, and more than 100 women from cities like Chandigarh, Prayagraj and Pune. Senior military and civilian dignitaries including Lieutenant General Amardeep Singh Aujla, YSM, SM, VSM, GOC, 15 Corps, Major General Ajay Chandpuria, GOC, 19 and DC Baramulla graced the occasion with their presence. It marked a watershed moment in the history of Kashmir as the event is being conducted for the second consecutive time. It created a platform for the women to showcase their prowess in the field of cycling. 150 women cyclists took part in the cycle rally. They cycled all the way from Baramulla to Kaman Post, Uri covering a distance of 65 km in the arduous terrain of Jammu and Kashmir. The closing ceremony held at Kaman Post evoked exuberant response from the participants and locals alike. The cyclists vowed to return again next year in bigger numbers, to further the deep bond forged with Kashmir and Indian Army.
