More than a thousand guests gathered in Moscow to sample the taste of Indian summer at the mango festival. There are about 1,500 varieties of mangoes in India. Participants of the Russian festival managed to taste five types of fruits of the evergreen tree. All of them come from the state of Uttar Pradesh: fragrant langra, sweet amrapali, melon-honey malika, exquisite dasheri and weighty chaunsa.

India today is one of the main exporters of mangoes to Russia. The fruit is appreciated not only by gourmets, but also by followers of healthy eating. What interesting traditions are associated with mangoes in Indian culture?
